Two more awards for Neil from Italy
We are thrilled that Neil Packer’s book, One of a Kind, has won two more Italian awards. The Cento Children’s Literature Prize, and now, just announced, the Premio Andersen. We are so grateful to Neil’s Italian publishers, Camelozampa, for all the work they’ve put into this. Sara Saorin, their publisher and translator put it like ,this; “For conceiving and arranging a sort of kaleidoscopic catalogue of the world, with its uniquenesses and varieties, in an original perspective, that can represent a meditation on our becoming through time, and is capable of doing that from the point of view of childhood”. Quite so, and you can see more on this remarkable book here, including archival prints which we make to order.
Neil had already won the Ragazzi Prize in 2021 when the book was first published. In the UK it was shortlisted for the V&A award in 2022, and selected for the ’28 Bienale ilustracii Bratislava’. This remarkable book, first published during that impossible time when there was a flood of publishing at the end of the covid period, has gathered momentum and much-deserved success. It’s there for the long haul, and we expect to see more foreign editions as the word spreads. Many thanks to Walker Books, and we’ll look forward to working on a follow-up book too.
